We welcome you to join virtual Praying the Keeills week. The theme for this year is Mann and Nature. Each day there will be a Facebook post with some readings, reflections, prayers, images or videos for us to explore together posted at the time when we would have met together. Thy Kingdom Come (21st - 31st May)
Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension Day (this Thursday) to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus. What started in 2016 as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.  A large range of resources have been put together so that we can take part.  Here is a small selection of some of them:

Morning and Evening Prayer
Prayer Journals
Digital Family Prayer Adventure Map

Links to a free Church of England App (for iOS and Android) can be found on their website.

Christian Aid Week (10 - 17th May)
Christian Aid week starts today !  Global events are naturally taking precedent and mean that this year’s Christian Aid Week will look completely different. Our Island appeal this year is to finish what we started! We have an outstanding amount of £20,450 to raise to complete our current projects in Burundi.  Download the leaflet to see how you can involved.

Public Notices
Notice is given by Rushen Parachoial Church Council that we are applying to the Consistory Court of the diocese for permission to carry out:

  1. Reordering of the West End of St. Mary's Church (Port St Mary).  For relevant plans click here.
  2. To fit polycarbonate sheeting to the windows of St. Catherine's Church.  For relevant plans, click here.

If you wish to object to any of the above works or proposals you should send a letter stating the grounds of your objection to the Diocesan Registrar so that your letter reaches the Registrar not later than 7 May 2020.  Full details on how to object are provided with the relevant plans.

At Your Service

During this difficult times, Manx Radio has launched a new radio programme:  At Your Service.  A chance for worshippers of any denomination to engage in worship whilst churches are closed due to the COVID-19 crsis.

Closure of Churches
In light of the evolving and growing danger to public health, Bishop Peter has asked that all churches across the Diocese are to be closed from today (24 March); even for private and solitary prayer and devotion. This comes in the light that there is now greater risk in leaving our churches open, which invites people to leave home and to be exposed to communal space and contact.   Our duty of care now precludes this.

Pastoral Letter to the Diocese of Sodor and Man - 18 March 2020
Please find a pastoral letter from Bishop Peter about the ongoing situation.

Annual Parochial Church Meetings (APCMs)
The APCM meeting on Wednesday 22 April has been cancelled.  APCM meetings have to be conducted before the end of April, however, this is not possible due to the current situation with the coronavirus.  Bishop Peter has extended the time for parishes to hold their annual meetings to the end of October, with current office holders (churchwardens and PCC members) remaining in office longer than they would otherwise do.
